Christmas Recap: Christmas at home

Christmas morning...rise and shine!  Santa came!

One of the wonderful things about having a child is getting to celebrate Christmas morning with them.  I was definitely way more into Christmas than Hank was - and Brett too - ha!  When Hank woke up a little before 6am on Christmas morning I will admit I was a little excited and didn't complain about the early morning wake up.  Even though this was Hank's second Christmas, it still felt like it was hist first.   The first time around he was only a few weeks old (and we were still in newborn baby zombie land and barely noticed it was Christmas Day), so Brett and I were really looking forward to having our first family Christmas celebration this year.

We want to have a tradition of making Hank (and any other future munchkins we may have!) stand in front of the Christmas tree in his jammies and pose for his official Christmas morning photo before he can open any presents.  This year the little man wouldn't stay still long enough so this was all we got!  This picture is so telling:  Hank is always on the move and hardly ever stops!  Notice how the bottom half of the tree has no ornaments?  Well, it started out with ornaments but I had to move them one by one as Hank tried almost every day to pull the ornaments down.  It wasn't too bad and having a Christmas tree with a curious one year old was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  It became a little game for him and we both got lots of giggles out of it.  No fence necessary.

One of my favorite things about Christmas Day growing up was getting outside to play with our toys even if the weather was bad.  Hank got some sweet Batman rain boots for Christmas from Brett so we thought it would be fun to head down to the park after nap time and let him walk around and play some.  We ventured out despite the looming rain clouds!

Our Christmas celebration at home was just the beginning...that night we boarded a plane and headed to Austin to celebrate with our family in Texas.
