Height: 31.25" (89%)

Head: 18.5"
When the doctor told me he was in the 7 percentile for weight I freaked a little and blurted out something to the effect of "failure to thrive - ahhhhhhhh!". She laughed at me. Then she explained he is just fine and there is no reason to be concerned.
At one year, Hank is all over the place. He is a pro at walking and is trying to climb a little here and there. The foot goes into the air but it doesn't know how to get a foothold on anything yet so it just hangs in the air for a second then comes back down to the ground.
Kisses are given all the time and he's starting to climb into my lap when he wants me to read him a story.
He continues to sleep really well unless he's teething. He has only his two upper and two lower teeth in the middle. I'm pretty sure he's teething again right now because this week he has been fussy at times and grabbing at his lower gums a lot.
Diaper change? Getting dressed? Applying lotions or creams of any kind? Getting buckled into the car seat? You have to be out of your mind if you think it can be done quickly or quietly. It's generally best to trick another adult into doing them. But, once he is in the car seat he is a very good traveler in the car.
He is following instructions more each day. He will sit down to let me put on his shoes or socks. He says "sssss" and "shhhhh" which means "socks" and "shoes". I can point at something and ask him to put the toy or book (or whatever he is holding) down or in a box or on the table and he will do it most of the time.
He loves to flop on to pillows and the floor and on the couch. He makes himself laugh really hard when he does it.
When we come home from an outing, he gets super excited as we walk up the sidewalk to our front door. He can hear Ellie barking in the house and he calls out her name and starts waving his arms up and down really fast. He can't wait to see her when we get inside.
He understands that Ellie's leash is for walks. When Brett sits it down on the couch Hank will pick it up and drag it behind him like he's walking the dog.
He had his first taste of cow's milk this week and he loved it. We are starting to wean him from breast milk and it's been more emotional for me than I thought it would be. I am totally ready to wean him but a little part of me says give the baby Mama's milk! Then the other voice in my head says imagine what it will be like when ANYONE can feed him! Freedom!!!!
Baby Hank,
We can’t believe it’s been one year since we first held you in our arms. You have been such a wonderful blessing to us. This year has been filled with kisses, hugs, snuggles, giggles, squeals, joys and much much more. All of this is because of you. We love you so much.
Happy Birthday Sweet Hank. You are our sunshine.
