Sweetie potato
Hank has started on another new food...the sweet potato. He is enjoying eating solids so far. He likes to "help" me by grabbing the end of the spoon and shoving it into his mouth. In the process, he swipes most of the food off the spoon and onto his hands. Then he sucks the food off of his fingers. He gets upset when I try to wipe his hands clean mid-way through the meal. He is impatient and wants me to keep feeding him. I can't help it...I just can't sit there looking at the globs of food covering his hands because I know if he does one quick move that food is going to be all over me. The wall by his chair was the first casualty of his solid food shenanigans and I am not willing to let my white shirt be the next!
The fact that he is eating sweet potatos amuses me. I hated them for my whole life until a few years ago. I once was forced to eat sweet potato casserole/candied yams when I was in 5th grade and it wasn't pretty. I tried to wash them down with milk but I ended up gagging over the horrible mixture and proceeded to "toss my cookies" all over the dinner table. My sisters thought it was a riot but everyone else...not so much. We were eating outside so the mess was OK...which is really weird...why would there be this kind of dish at an outdoor summer meal???
I know it's not that exciting to hear about all the foods he is eating, but the grannies and the aunties like it so I'm going to keep on doing it!
Also, the owie on his forehead was from a nose dive he took while trying to balance himself on a toy at playgroup the other day!

I'm so proud of baby Hank. Man those sweet taters were a mess of a bad time for us that day, but maybe Hank won't suffer them like we did as kiddies.
