Pulling up

First time to pull him up on anything...looking in the toy box...but only standing on his knees.

Starting to explore pulling up on the couch. It's harder for him because there isn't anything to pull up on. The fabric is too soft and slippery.
It takes a lot more work to pull up on the couch.

First time to pull up and stand on his feet. The toy box seems to be a favorite location!

Standing in the crib!

Hank has been trying to pull himself up on things ever since we caught him doing it in his crib not too long ago. He tries to pull himself up on the edge of the couch, on the coffee table (now removed from the living room due to its glass top) and on our legs. But a few days ago, he actually accomplished it on his toy box, but only stood on his knees. The next day, he did it again and got up on his feet. Once he was hooked on, he looked over the edge and found all the fun stuff in there.

This weekend, he discovered that this new skill could be implemented in the crib even easier. It was definitely cute to find him standing up in his crib the first couple of times grinning from ear to ear but once he decided to do it non-stop, we had an issue. (The above video and pictures from the crib are from before it became a problem...when everyone was happy that baby had a new skill!) The issue came because after standing for a while and thinking it's fun, he starts crying because at some point it becomes no fun and he is tired and he can't figure out how to get down.

I think we've turned a corner because when he went down for his morning nap today he cried for less time and then I heard him crash land in the mattress. That's the first time he's let go on his own so hopefully he remembers how to do that next time too. We have to move the mattress all the way down now. I saw him put his foot on the side of the crib and that's all we need is for him to get a little traction and who knows what he'll do next!
