Hank - 23 months

This is his first time to ever give me a "smile" when I asked.  This reminds me of his "scrunchy face" that he used to do all the time when he was really little.
Hank is 23 months old today!  He is already practicing saying his age in preparation for when he turns two next month.  Two is his favorite number.  If you ask him how old he is, he'll say "two".  How many sisters do you have?  "Two!"
He's so obsessed with trucks and construction that it's taken over most of his play time right now.  He touches and plays with his trucks all day every day.  He even sleeps with them.
This has been a big month full of bursts of new words in his vocabulary.  He finally says "mommy".  He only says it when I am not around or not in the room and he wants me.  He hasn't walked up to me and called me "mommy" yet.  He has been saying "daddy" for a while so I have been anxiously awaiting my day of fame around here.  He now says so many words it's hard to keep track of them.  He talks in full sentences all day long although we still have a hard time understanding him at times.  Another highlight of his new vocabulary is that he sings a lot each day now.  He loves to sing the ABC's (even if he isn't saying the letters correctly he is trying to) and a whole bunch of other kid songs like Twinkle, Twinkle and Clean Up.

This month has also been probably the hardest of his little life so far.  His sisters have been here for 4 weeks and he has had to make some major adjustments.  The girls take up a lot of my attention right now and it has been so hard to see how sad that makes Hank at times.  I am trying very hard to make alone time for Hank and me each day but sometimes it's not for as long as he would like.  Frankly, I miss my time with Hank too.  I guess it's been a hard month for me as well.  :)  I don't think it's a coincidence that he now says "mommy" right when he can't be with me as much and it seems like he wants me more than ever.
Despite all the changes taking place around here.  He is still his lovable, adorable, hilarious self.  Hank and Brett brought me home some food from Chipotle (our fave restaurant for when we're eating with Hank) the other night and as soon as the food was out of the bag, the bag was on his head.  He was wearing the bag and making sure we were watching him and laughing.

We love this little guy so much.  While Brett and I are knee deep in newborn craziness over here it is so amazing to see this little boy and realize we somehow made it through the newborn stage with him and he turned out OK!
