Tonight we went to Fallapalooza - the fall festival put on by our church. It was a BLAST!
The theme for the event was Alice in Wonderland and they had all of these fun booths and stations set up for the kids to do fun activities and win candy. He made a mad hatter hat (in the picture above) which I ended up wearing for a while. When he got to this station he was so excited to see a bottle of glue there on the table that was OK for him to use. He looked at the glue and looked at me and had a look that asked "Really? I can do glue?!?!?" (At our house, glue comes out very rarely, I save it for preschool.) We glued a lot tonight.
They also had a bean bag toss, a football toss, fishing in a kiddie pool, croquet, and a bunch of other Alice in Wonderland themed activities. Hank's favorite station was a fabulous maze we had to crawl in that I got a little scared in because it was pitch black and Hank took off in one direction when I went the other way. He was laughing the whole time so I guess he has night vision or something because he led us out OK.
All of the candy stations were great but nothing could compare to the humongous slide. This is the only picture I took that turned out and it was on his last slide run right as we were leaving. It makes me laugh so hard every time I see that little leg flying in the air and his dirty little feet.
When we arrived at 5:30 he went straight for the slide and he probably went down that thing 35 times while we were there tonight. It was so much fun and he laughed his head off every time. No shoes were allowed on the slide so he took off his shoes and also his socks so that meant he just ended up running around the event barefoot the entire time. Nice right? Whenever we would walk away from the slide area he didn't want to bother with putting them back on because he had plans to get back on the slide very very soon.
Oh, and our kids were almost the only ones without costumes on. For some reason as we were leaving our house this evening he decided he didn't want to wear his lion costume. I have no idea why. He has been so excited about it for the past couple of weeks. We'll see if he wears it tomorrow. As for the girls, I made them little lady bug costumes but I bailed on putting them in the costumes at the last minute thinking it was going to be a little bit fussy to hold them and have them in big tulle skirts all night. They did sport their buggy headbands though! We'll get them in their costumes tomorrow.
He ate so many treats tonight and it was so cute to see him get excited about all of it. Here he is taking a sliding break to eat popcorn. He picked this seat specifically because there were some big kids sitting directly to the right of him eating popcorn and he was copying them.
The girls were so good all night. They kept their headbands on and it was pretty cute.
Here they are back in the stroller as we were readying to leave. Ruby is looking around upset because Charlotte just took her pacifier that Dad just gave them for the ride home.
I feel so bad for posting this crying picture of Ruby but it really was so funny to me at the time to see how Charlotte was just holding it there in front of Ruby teasing her with it. I stopped taking pictures and gave the paci back to Ruby.
It was so much fun to stay up a little past bed time (they were in bed by 8pm!) and get the kids out to celebrate! Hank really amazed me tonight. He had to stand in lines for a few things and for the big slide and he stood there patiently and quietly waited his turn. He is still a little tornado but he's learning how to be patient a little bit here and there and that is so nice!
Halloween is so much more fun with kids!!

p.s. I know I promised a post about the girls' party. It's coming. All of my pictures were a little funny colored so I have been having to edit them. It takes time. Oh, and I am a procrastinator and this post was a lot easier than the party post or their one year birthday post. :) I'll get to it after Halloween. I also have about two months worth of photos to post. I see a blog blast in the near future. Well, near is very relative I guess!!!
