Charlotte and Ruby turned 8 months old on the 7th. Here is what they were up to then. I wrote most of this post during the month but didn't have time to get the pictures off of my camera until now. Life is really busy right now. At least I am keeping track of it all even if it's not getting onto the blog on time. I am happy about that. Gotta look at the bright side! Maybe I'll eventually get back to more timely blogging. Maybe.
Charlotte started sitting up right at 7 months and Ruby followed suit a few days later, so they were sitting up really well this whole month. I love these sitting babies. I love everything about these babies really. Them sitting definitely made play time within the vicinity of Hank a lot easier and a lot more fun. He saw them in a whole new light I think.
They were still sleeping really well. They go down for their naps (two per day) fast but for a couple of weeks there they were crying when we put them down at night. I think it was mainly because Ruby would start it when we left the room and that made Charlotte stay awake some. Also, because they had the new sitting up trick, they weren't good at laying down to sleep. I remember Hank doing this and we would go in over and over and say night night time and lay him down, but he'd sit right back up. We didn't do this with the girls since they were still sharing a room with Hank and we didn't wan him to see us going in there over and over. We decided to let them figure it out the hard way. Over night, they are still waking up periodically between 4 and 6 am. It's not every morning and it's not always the same girl!
Ruby has separation anxiety and cries out when I leave her sight. Charlotte just watches me go on by and doesn't even wince.

Their baby mullets are almost gone. Charlotte has just a little bit of it left in the back on the side and Ruby has a little more. Both have a thin layer of fuzz growing in all over. Sometimes it looks dark and other times it looks very light blond. I am so anxious to see what their hair is going to look like but if they grow hair like Hank did then we'll have to wait until they are well over a year old to see noticeable length.
They like eating solid food pretty much. I never know if they are going to eat what I give them or not. I really don't think Hank was this picky so the girls have been throwing me for a loop sometimes. They will act like they are going to gag when they don't like something. Being a busy gal I don't have a lot of ideas or stockpiles of various foods for them so they get what they get. I am hoping that exposing them to the "gaggy" foods a few more times will help. Currently they gag on yogurt. Really? Come on!
I have been hesitant to do a formal comparison of their personalities because I don't want to influence how people treat them. But as of right now, Brett and I feel that Ruby is the vocal, social butterfly and Charlotte is a little more reserved and likes to soak in all of her surroundings. We'll see how that pans out as they get older. As far as appearances, I don't think they look alike on most days. I think a lot of it has to do with their head shape being so different. It will really be interesting to see how they look once they do get some hair! If they are both in a picture I can always tell them apart. Every now and then if they are in a photo by themselves I have a little trouble telling them apart if I can't see their entire face or their entire head. In some angles, they look very similar.
As far as size, we haven't weighed them in a long time but Ruby still feels like she is a little bigger than Char. They are finally wearing some of their 6 month clothing, mostly just the dresses since the shirts and pants are still too big.
I used to be able to tell their cries apart when I was in a different room. Nowadays I can't tell without looking.
We LOVE these girls. By the time I am posting this we're already half way through month 8 and it's amazing how much they've changed in just the past two weeks! As they get older it seems like they are turning into little girls rather than babies. But only a teeny weeny bit. I say it all the time but I really do want to freeze them. They are tiny and so easy to hold and cuddle!
