Over the past month or so, Hank has developed a new routine at nap time. He doesn't like to get into the crib unless he has sat on his bean bag and read a book or two. (This is his normal bed time routine but at nap time I used to just drop him right in the crib and walk out.) I'm ok with this since it only takes a few minutes and it seems to help him wind down for his nap. The other day, he wanted to read his favorite book called "Trucks" over and over again and acted defiant when I told him it was nap time after the 5th reading. I decided to let him take the book to bed with him instead thinking he can read it as many times as he'd like as long as he was in his crib!
These above pics are the antics he went through with the book before he decided to settle down and start to rest. I love how he starts out sitting, then he's down and facing his right side, then his left side, then he swaps sides a couple more times, then he migrates to the back of the crib, pretends to read some, then when I ask him to go night night he curls up with the book tucked underneath him and closes his eyes and pretends to be asleep.
I know for a fact that he didn't go to sleep in this position because when he got up from his nap a few hours later, he and the book were in a completely different place in the crib and the book's binding was completely torn off. Not sure exactly how he did that since it was not torn at all when I left it there!!! We've let him nap with a book here and there since this incident but he's only allowed to have the soft books now!
