Saw the POTUS...almost

Today President Obama was at Facebook doing a town hall meeting.  Since we live a block from the headquarters Hank and I figured it was worth heading over there to loiter and try to get a glimpse of the President.  I was real nice to a police officer on duty and he confirmed where the motorcade was going to pass through and even told me where to stand.  I staked out our spot and had a front row position.

This waiting thing was getting boring so Hank kicked back and sipped on his water.

After a little wait, we finally started seeing some action coming down the street.  It was pretty exciting actually.  A large group of people had formed on the corner we were on (all of us behind the yellow police tape!) and the group started buzzing when we saw the police motorcycles start coming down the street.  I had my camera ready and I started clicking away.  Here's what we saw...

 

 

This last shot is of the car that was closest to us.  I think the President was actually in a car slightly behind this one but on the other side of the street.  The Secret Service is sneaky.   Although we got to see the motorcade, I am a little bummed.  You know why?  Because right after he passed us (and not close enough for me to see it) he rolled down his window and started waving! Grrrrr...seriously???  So many people lined up and he waves to the people after us.

Something kinda funny that happened was this older lady was talking to me as we waited on the corner.  She was the kind of talker that will talk to you about anything and it was fine because we had time to kill.  Right before the President came all these randoms showed up at the last minute and tried to work their way in front of us by crossing the street and then standing in front of us.  The older lady was hilarious and made all these people move by declaring "you are blocking the baby and we were here first!".  Surprisingly, it worked and they all moved.  It was awesome to have Hank in his stroller parked on the front row taking up valuable viewing space.  I wanted to make sure he could see the President or at least his car!
