Hank is mobile.
He started doing this scooting/inch worm/crawling thing on the second day of our trip in Texas. He started off by getting up on all fours and just rocking back and forth but by the end of the week he could move around so much faster. Here's a video from last weekend when he was showing off his skills. The video is kind of long - sorry! The toy he is going after in this video was one which his cousin Luke passed on to him from his toy collection because he outgrew it. We played with it over and over and over and over again all week. This toy makes him so crazy happy and I think it is the reason he started movin'!
For a while now, any time we have been putting him down on his back, he instantly flips to his tummy. He has never had an interest in flipping from his tummy to his back. I think this must be why. He has been focused on getting moving and that requires him to stay on his tummy.
I love to see the determination in his face when he sees something he wants to go get. Since we've been back from Texas, his new goal is to get Ellie. The toys aren't cutting it anymore. He sees her across the room and he starts moving her way. His face lights up and he starts grinning from ear to ear as if he can't wait to get her. Thank goodness he's still slow or else she might have to actually run away. He usually tires out before he gets to her. She just lies there because I don't think she realizes he can move yet.
I'm excited that our little guy has this new trick but I'm bummed because that means the days of leaving him on the floor by himself (knowing that he'd be in the same place when I returned) are over. Now we officially need to baby proof the house!
