Cupid is awesome

I'm working from home today and the best thing just happened...cupid stopped by our house!!! We got a special delivery from my Mom for Valentine's Day. I love all the goodies and gifts inside but the best part is she wrapped everything all cute with little packages and bows. She even decorated the outside of the box with hearts - on all four sides of the box!

Thank you Mom!!

Watching the world go by

Ellie often keeps an eye on the neighborhood from our office window. She has even figured out how to open the curtains so she can sit and watch.

Make your own latte

I just got to work and it has been a ridiculous morning for me. We had to get out the door a little earlier than normal this morning so instead of making my own latte at home, I decide to stop at Pete's on the way to work. Big mistake. Somehow, they gave me a cup that had a slow leak in the bottom of it. I didn't notice this until I had been drinking it in the car for about 5 minutes. I looked down and there was coffee all over me. At the time, it was kind of funny and despite the fact that my outfit was really messed up I decide to just go to work anyway and not go home to change since I was already on the highway. I made a contraption out of napkins and a small plastic bag I had in the car to wrap the cup so I could drink the rest of it without further damage. Right as I was getting to work, my little contraption failed and coffee spilled all over me. Not just a small spot - we're talking all over me. I look like I poured a cup of coffee all over my shirt and pants. It's very funny that this happened to me not once, but twice. As I write this, the aroma of coffee is all around me and I'm afraid it's going to be like this all day. I am going to strategically walk around the office today so as to avoid being stared at.

Moral of the story: From now on, always make my own latte with the nice espresso machine I have at home.

P.S. It just occurred to me...could I be addicted to my lattes? The mere fact that I made a contraption to enable me to finish my latte is an indication. I know I am not addicted to the caffeine, because I could drink decaf and still be happy. I think it's time to admit that I am in fact addicted to drinking coffee. I ruined my outfit just to keep drinking my latte! This just cracks me up.

February already?

I can't believe it's already February. The past month has flown by so fast. I've spent a lot of time on Junior League - but at least it's been fun. I am one of the co-chairs for JLSJ's 2010 Fashion Show (FS) and we've been working on selecting our venue and getting our dates finalized. The event is a year away but it's similar to planning a wedding and about 1,100 people attend it. Once these first big decisions are out of the way, I'll be very relieved.

In January, it seemed like Brett and I had one party/birthday/dinner/happy hour/meeting after another. Oh yeah, and I've been working at my real job too. It was a ton of fun - but I am hoping February is a little less busy. After all, I am naturally inclined to be a hermit and I really haven't been able to do enough of that lately. I haven't even had time to post to my blog!

By the way, Phil saw his shadow today and that means 6 more weeks of winter. Well, someone should tell Palo Alto that because it's 70 degrees outside now. This is my kind of winter.
